Chris + Orioles = Fun!

Posted: Mar 23, 2023

Thanks to the generosity of the Baltimore Orioles, Florida teen Chris enjoyed a special spring training experience! As a junior varsity baseball player himself on his local high school’s team, Chris loved being able to meet one of his favorite teams!

The 15-year-old watched Orioles players during batting practice, got autographs from the players afterwards, played some catch with players, and then sat with his family in VIP seats and watched the Orioles win their preseason game aganist the Pirates!

The teen is excited to get the experience because “it was my first time at this stadium and to watch the game,” he said.

Chris, diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, was joined by his mother and father Michelle and Chris, along with his younger sister Ayla.

His favorite activity that Casey Cares provided him with was a visit to “Monster Jam because I love Grave Digger. I had a Power Wheels one when I was little that I could drive,” he says.

With Casey Cares, Chris loves that, “I get to do fun stuff with my family that we wouldn’t or couldn’t normally do. We still are very careful about germs though.”

The Baltimore Orioles have partnered with the Casey Cares Foundation for over 10 years, providing tickets for critically ill children to watch baseball games. We've held our Annual 5K at the Baltimore Orioles' Oriole Park at Camden Yards from 2013 to 2018.

Thank you again to the Baltimore Orioles for continuing to give a once-in-a-lifetime experiences to Casey Cares kids like Chris! These seemingly little moments truly make lasting memories for critically ill children who undergo challenging medical treatments. Casey Cares always appreciates in-kind donations of tickets to sporting events for the kids in our programs! Please email them to our Program Director Summer at Summer@CaseyCaresFoundation.org.
