David Trapp, a longtime Casey Cares supporter, has more than 30 years experience in the business field around Maryland and is still going strong! Read on to find out about how his company surprised him and Casey Cares.

Can you believe it?

Recently, David’s friends, family, and company raised more than $2,400 in honor of his 30 years in business! David has been helped Casey Cares Foundation for many years through his in-kind donations of marketing materials and printing Casey Cares’ t-shirts! David is the Owner of Buck Wear, Maryland My Maryland, and MOJO Art & Image.

Mike Hammes, David’s cousin and Sales Executive at Buck Wear, says that giving gifts to David can be difficult since “he’s a hard person to buy something for.” As the details for David’s surprise celebration were being finalized, Mike soon had the perfect idea for David’s gift: raising money for Casey Cares.

Mike immediately contacted Casey Cares’ Deputy Director, Erin Ritter, and set up a personalized donation page for employees, family, and friends to utilize.

Why Casey Cares?

David said that he “really appreciates and values the work that this charity does for children and families that are faced with the challenge of critical illness.”

Mike continues his sentiment saying that, “David’s favorite part about Casey Cares is their connection to families. There are so many families that need help or have someone in their family that needs assistance and Casey Cares supports them as well as their child and helps them all enjoy time together.”

Compassionate + Thoughtful

At his party, David teared up when it was announced the company had raised money in his honor for Casey Cares. Mike notes that David “was very touched by it and sent everyone an email thanking them for donating to such a good cause.”

David’s immense care for his employees and others is evident. Mike states, “David feels a huge amount of responsibility for his employees. He is always recognizing his employees for their milestones.”

His empathy is not limited to the workplace. According to Mike, David “has helped his employees on a personal level, and he is a very caring and thoughtful person, not only to those close to him but others in the community.”

“David's generosity is the humble kind. He doesn’t go around boasting about it. David believes in giving back to his local community,” Mike states.

It All Comes Back to Family

David’s attentiveness to others started early on. As the oldest sibling in his family, Mike remembers that David was always helping his younger brother who had cerebral palsy and “pushed around his brother’s wheelchair.”

David credits his success of 30 years of business to his employees. Mike notes that David believes, “you cannot do anything without a team.” Most of all, David also greatly owes his success to his wife Christy, a professionally trained singer, and his family.

Mike concludes, “David built his company himself and enjoys now being in a position to help others like Casey Cares.”
