Disney On Ice for the Whole Family

Posted: Jan 12, 2023

Casey Cares knows that when a child becomes sick, their loved ones and entire families also struggle emotionally, financially, and mentally. That's why it's our mission to provide uplifting, ongoing programs and activities to critically ill children and their siblings and families!

Thanks to our donor, Feld Entertainment, Casey Cares is able to make all of this possible and more for over 1,200 children and their families. Our families get the ability to release some stress and enjoy fun times outside of challenging medical care through exciting activities such as Disney On Ice! See below to read the importance of a night out at Disney On Ice for three families.

Lucas, sibling of Casey Cares kiddo Griffin, recently went to Disney On Ice with his mom! Mom Nicole said,

"Casey Cares,

My son Griffin (4) was diagnosed 11 weeks ago with leukemia, and a majority of that time has been spent in the hospital, and has been extremely challenging. We ended Griffin's second induction phase this last week, and he was bouncing back. My oldest Lucas, 6, has had to stay with grandparents on and off for the past 11 weeks as we have been in the hospital with Griffin. When we are home, we are fighting Griffin to take meds or cleaning up after him getting sick. My oldest has been a trooper, wearing his mask to school and anywhere he has needed, and just been the most supportive big brother. It's been a difficult and isolating few months for our family.

Unfortunately on Sunday, Griffin was not up to going, and couldn't make it to Disney on Ice, but I decided that I wanted to take my oldest so he could have a fun experience out of the house. He was amazed!! He had such an incredible time, and thought it was so magical. It was sad to yet again, not be able to take Griffin out, but it was so very nice to be able to spend quality time with Lucas, and give him some little kid magic again! Thank you so very much for a magical evening!"

Makayla, age 8, is diagnosed with chronic lung disease and cerebral palsy. After watching a Disney On Ice show in Cleveland with her family, her mother Toya said,

“Dear Casey Cares,

Thank you so much for the amazing night that you’ve provided for Makayla. She had a blast and really enjoyed the music and skating.

This was our first time going to Disney On Ice and this event had to be the highlight of our winter so far. Thank you for making it possible for Makayla and our family to enjoy things like this especially in these trying times.”

After Anjali was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that forms in certain types of nerve tissue, the 4-year-old has had constant checkup scans, challenging treatments, never-ending doctor's appointments, and tiring therapies.

Her visit to a New Jersey Disney On Ice show with her brother Alexander came at the perfect time.

Mom, Kim said, “My kids loved it! It was a nice surprise for Anjali ahead of her scans tomorrow and after a day at the hospital today as well! Thank you!”
